LUFFS 1 LITTLETON 3 (27/9/05)

THE LUFFS came down to Earth with a bump on Saturday against the much fancied Littleton side despite taking the lead in the first half they had difficulty holding this rampant Evesham side.

Ruben Francis was first to show shooting just past the post but Littleton replied and Matt Watkiss headed clear under pressure. Simon Brain forced a save from the Loughborough keeper Ben Hall, Steve Higgins got a shot away but the Littleton keeper Michael Harris saved while at the other end Hall saved with his feet. Littleton put the pressure on The Luffs but Hall was in good form handling cleanly as the crosses rained in. The Luffs had the answer at this stage, Nathan Dale beat the Littleton defence for pace and slotted the ball past keeper Harris and Loughborough were in the lead.

Loughborough might have had a penalty as Matt Kearns was brought down in the area but the free kick at the other end just before half time brought the visitors an equalizer as Robert Harris found space at the back post to head in.

At 1-1 Loughborough began the second half under pressure and had to work hard to get themselves into the game, Joe Wright shot just past the post for the visitors but the middle of the half was Loughborough's and they might have gone ahead with keeper Harris at full stretch from Royston Whittle and then cleared one off the line with his feet to keep the scores level. Littleton found the roof of the net with a free kick but Loughborough's new signing Leon Fay was brought down on the edge of the penalty area, showing a remarkable turn of pace. Loughborough had another shot cleared off the line, this time a free kick from Steve Whittle and Patrick Thompson curled one just wide but then in the final quarter the game turned against The Luffs.

A mistake in defence gave Littleton, Simon Brain pounced on the loose ball and squared for Joe Wright to make it 1-2. A third late in the game as Loughborough chased the deficit feel to Simon Brain and The Luffs were beaten by a slightly flattering scoreline.
