FAIRFIELD VILLA 0 LUFFS 0 (28/9/02)
IT WASN'T too long ago when a point at Fairfield Villa would have been looked upon as a point gained, but not on Saturday as Loughborough FC strive to get amongst the promotion hopefuls, a serious of missed opportunities and ill fortune left the Luffs thinking this was two points lost.

Commencing the game without leading goal scorer Paul O'Callaghan the visitors knew that goal chances would be at a premium and with Leon Spencer and Mark Broomes squandering early chances then Steve Mould striking the bar from 25 yards The Luffs reached the break knowing that, although the Villa had had a goal disallowed for off side, their greater possession should have been turned into goals.

With messers Barratt & Tebbutt making changes at half time, debutant Mark Dabney made an instant impact that should have seen The Luffs take the lead when his cross was skied over the bar by Broomes. Although the home side came more into the game in the second half and youngster Richard Keeling was called upon to make three outstanding saves to keep the Luffs in the game, the game ended with Paul Gunn hitting the home post to leave the visitors undefeated away record still in tact but frustrated that two points had been lost.

Although disappointed with the result last week The Luffs travel to Cradley Heath and a fixture against Old Hill Town on Saturday knowing that they sit just three wins away from being amongst the promotion pack, and with games in hand over many sides above, but also certain in the knowledge that chances must be taken if these draws are to be turned in to precious three points.
