OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB (26/8/04)
|
It is with regret that manager Geoff Green and Loughborough FC have parted company.
We have appointed a Manager straight away and will take control this weekend. His name will not be revealed until he has met the squad.
The committe would like to pass on its gratitude to Geoff. He came in when the club was dying on his feet and tried to resurrect the playing side of the club. Unfortunately he was not able, despite his hard work and endeavours to change what was a difficult situation on the playing front to the satisfaction of the LFC Committee.
Chairman Andy Watkiss said "The guy tried his best, that is all you can ask from a manager, unfortunately he was not able to attract what we considered to be the right blend of experience and youth players locally because of the distance he lived away from Loughborough."
"I can honestly say he has left the playing side of the club in better shape than what he inheritted. Hopefully the new manager and his assistant will build on that and meet our aspirations for Loughborough FC. "

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB (4/10/03)
|
THE Loughborough Football Club has undergone an internal re-organisation along the following lines:
Loughborough Football Club Limited will cease to exist on 4/10/2003 and is immediately replaced by Loughborough Football Club which will be run by a management committee along the traditional lines.
The limited company was created to meet the requirements of the proposed football village, a project which met unexpected problems and is no longer viable.
The New Loughborough Football Club will be structured to meet the new challenge laid down by the Charnwood Borough Council in their proposals to replace The Drome at a new location.
The club would like to express it's appreciation for the work done and the suport given over the past few years and intend to build upon it.
The Management Committee is not yet complete and it will meet on Wednesday 8th October to finalise the details and if you wish to become involved in a positive way please ring the club Secretary John Belton on 01509 231583.
The Future is bright but the future will be hard work in the traditional way.

GIVE THE LUFFS A LEASE (10/5/03)
|
ON SEPTEMBER THE 4TH 2003 the Charnwood Borough Council will decide the future of the Loughborough Football Club, it's ground The Drome and the fate of it's 24 teams
The club has asked for a long-term lease in order to develop the ground with brick buildings and such unessential luxuries such as changing rooms, toilets and showers
|
10 Reasons...
...why the Loughborough Football Club need to be given a long-term lease on the ground
1. Changing Rooms
The club currently has NO changing rooms for its 24 teams
2. Participation
that covers over 400 men, women and children in the area
3. Representation
including coaches, managers and parents means that over 3% of the town's population are actively involved in the club
4. Prestige
having a football club with top non-league facilities will encourage commerce, publicity and pride back to the town
5. 'Retain or relocate'
according to the local plan, the ground is there on a 'retain or relocate' basis, that could be easily encorporated into an agreement
6. The Law
according to lawyers, there are NO legal reasons why this shouldn't happen
7. Security
A lease would mean that the club could rect permanent buildings and improve the security of the whole area
8. League status
the club cannot move any further up the football pyramid without an agreement
9. Parity
Other sports clubs in the town already have such agreements with the council
10. In 1974
The Charnwood Borough Council bulldozed the Browns Lane football ground and put an end to top-class competition in the town
IT NOW HAS THE CHANCE TO BRING IT BACK

Dear Sir
We/I would like to express our support for the Loughborough Football Club in their application for a long-term lease on their football ground "The Drome" at Derby Road Loughborough to be put before the Cabinet meeting of the Charnwood Borough Council on Sept 4th 2003.
The ground is in desperate need of a facilities update to maintain the 24 Loughborough FC teams and without this long-term commitment it cannot be achieved.
Please forward this supporting letter to the Chair of the cabinet meeting
Yours faithfully
